Why is breach-detection site "Have I Been Pwned" considered safe?
Whether it be due to technology the site is using, or any manual behind-the-scenes work with the data, why does this breach detection site seem to be unquestioningly safe? Wouldn't the data of you...

Is it safe to give my email address to a service like haveibeenpwned in ...
The Website supports TLSv1.2 and TLSv1.3 which is great of course. https://haveibeenpwned.com is using Cloudflare. As we all know Cloudflare is a Man in the middle. The encryption from the website is broken on the way to the actual server by Cloudflare. Now, for example, the NSA could knock on Cloudflares door and let the data move over.

Why check your email in haveibeenpwned rather than regularly changing ...
There's a lot of news right now about haveibeenpwned but I don't understand why people need a service like that in first place. If you're a security conscious user, you'd change your passwords regu...

Is "Have I Been Pwned's" Pwned Passwords List really that useful?
This answer refers solely to the original HIBP part of Troy's site, before the question was updated. Please read Troy's post for specifics on the Pwned Passwords section of it. That is not at all what it is for. It isn't actually even an indication if it has been used - just an indication that it has been leaked. Its use comes in knowing that attackers are likely to have your email address and ...

Should I worry about a breach where my password was not revealed?
After browsing another question on this site, I discovered haveibeenpwned.com and thought I'd check my email. It came up with one breach which has, apparently, not been widely shared and does not include a password or much in the way of personal information:

have i been pwned - Search list of emails [HaveIBeenPwned ...
I want to search a list of emails, about 150 roughly on the https://haveibeenpwned.com/ website. Obviously, I do not want to search each address individually, is there a way to upload a list, or format a list to search all addresses at once?

have i been pwned - Is there a reason why I should not use the ...
So yes, please feel free to do it if desired. As for why a particular organization might not do this, I'm sure that varies wildly from site-to-site, but I think it's a safe bet that it boils down to the usual suspects: Security is an area where many like to skimp, and implementing such a system takes additional effort.

Is haveibeenpwned (HIBP) free and reliable? [closed]
In the homepage of HIBP there is a section called recently Added Breaches. At the time of writing, the most recent breach added is Dec 2018, the data was leaked on internet on Feb 2019 and added into the site in Apr 2019. You can aslo find the details on the twitter account. On average it would seem that 10 data breachs is added per month.

Receiving verification emails for sites I did not sign up to
You can use haveibeenpwned.com to check if your e-mail has been included in a major leak. Note that a negative result doesn't mean the address hasn't been leaked, just that it's not in one of the leaks obtained by the site.

data leakage - Pwned by a website I never subscribed to - How do they ...
OP is 'pwned' because their email address was included in the dataset leaked by the site. That's all haveibeenpwned.com reports on. The question isn't about whether they have an account there (they know they don't), but why that site had their email address in the first place when OP never gave it to them.
